Womens Bible Study

We had our first women’s bible study at the church tonight.   I heard there was a need for this ministry and I felt like it would be a great way for me to develop relationships with the African ladies in my congregation.

There were six women who met at church on Monday evening.  We studied the life of Rebecca as she married Isaac, had her twin boys and tricked her husband into blessing her favored twin Jacob.  It is so fun to listen to the interpretation and conversation begun from different cultural points of view.  One woman said that the story of Jacob/Esau and their parents is very much like here.  The father favors the older while the younger is favored by the mother.  Is that true in the U.S.?

As we closed, the women wanted to talk about how we could meet even more often than originally planned.  I didn’t expect such a positive response.

Thanks for your prayers…especially you Lutheran women out there praying for the Lutheran women here.
