Irene Hausz

Irene E. Hausz, 95, of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2010 at her home with her family by her side.

Irene was born on March 6, 1914 in Whitewater, to the late Theodore and Olga (Schmidt) Heth.  She married Loren Hausz on June 21, 1941 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fort Atkinson.  He preceded her in death on July 1, 2000.

Irene taught for six years at the Star School Road school house and then worked as a bookkeeper for her husband’s concrete business.  Irene took pleasure in gardening, cooking, bowling and snowmobiling. She also reupholstered furniture, braided rugs and was an avid seamstress.  She enjoyed bird watching, nature and ice fishing with her husband.  She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church as well as its Ladies Aid.

Irene is survived by her children, John (Carolyn) Hausz of Fort Atkinson and Sandra Hausz (Craig Mapes) of Hazel Green; grandchildren, Paul Hausz of Cambridge and Michelle (Pastor Jacob) Gillard of Uganda, Africa; great grandchildren, Autumn & Summer Hausz and Amelia & Evangeline Gillard; sisters, Hertha Heth of Fort Atkinson and Erna Rude of Cambridge; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.  She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Emil, Alfred and Edward and sisters, Elsbeth Johnson, Emoline Wenzel and Winifred Hathaway.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday February 3, 2010 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (WELS) in Fort Atkinson with Pastor Paul Scharrer officiating.  Friends may call from 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the church until time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Irene’s granddaughter, Michelle Gillard, for her mission work in Uganda.
