About Us

Our family served in East Africa from November 2008 to January 2012.  It was a privilege to be a small part of the Lord’s work as we taught, discipled, served, and walked alongside Lutheran leaders in Uganda and South Sudan. We now serve with a different organization and maintain a different blog.

Jacob is a graduate of Concordia University, St. Paul and Concordia Seminary, St. Louis.  He has served in parish and mission contexts in Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, and East Africa.  In his leisure time, Jacob enjoys reading, fishing, and photography. Michelle is a graduate of Concordia University, St. Paul, and was the first to earn a Master of Arts in Christian Outreach from the Oswald Hoffmann School of Christian Outreach. Michelle’s hobbies include reading, walking, and outdoor activities. The Gillard’s have two daughters, Amelia and Evangeline, who enjoy homeschool and playing with friends.

How can you pray with the Gillard’s?

“Praise God for Ugandan & Sudanese co-workers who prove themselves to be faithful.  Thank God for the protection and safety he provided us in East Africa—especially over so many miles of Ugandan roads.  Ask God to purify His Church in East Africa.”
